Opener repair & installation questions
Does California require a battery backup on openers?
Yes. Since 2019, California law (SB 969) requires newly installed residential openers to include a battery backup so the door can operate during power outages.
Repair or replace my opener?
If the opener is fairly new and the problem is a gear, sensor, or remote, repair usually makes sense. Very old units without modern safety sensors or rolling-code remotes are often better replaced.
Which brands do providers work on?
Local pros service most major brands, including LiftMaster, Chamberlain, Genie, Craftsman, and Linear. Note the brand and model in the form if you can.
Why does my door go back up before it closes?
Most often the safety sensors near the floor are misaligned, dirty, or blocked. A pro can also check the force and travel settings.
